Glenn Hixson

Glenn Elwood Hixson, son of Amos and Adeline Daugherty Hixson, was born January 24, 1891 and died at his home near Russell, Iowa October 18, 1943, at the age of 52 years, 8 months and 24 days.

He was united in marriage to Minnie Mildred Dukes, March 13, 1910. To this union six children were born, all of whom are living. They are: Arthur of Williamson, Ia., Carl of Davenport, Ia., Mrs. Flossie Sams of Des Moines, Ia., Mrs. Louise Ambelang and Ralph Hixson of Chariton, Ia., and Everett Hixson in the U.S. Navy. The wife and mother passed away May 9th, 1937.

On April 4, 1942 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Hallie Pulley.

Besides the sorrowing wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Adeline Hixson of Russell, three grandchildren, Steven Sams, Darl and Phyllis Hixson, one sister, Mrs. Dewey Sellers, one half-sister, Mrs. Lenna Carson, one half-brother, Harry Hixson, also three step-children, Mrs. Eva Profitt of Kansas City, Mo., Gerald Pulley of Scottsbluff, Nebr., Mrs. Deloris Isenberger of Des Moines and other relatives and friends.

His entire life was lived in Cedar Township and for many years, his home had been located within a mile of his birthplace.

Several months ago he met with an accident from which he never fully recoverd. His many friends thoughout the community will sincerely mourn his departure.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 22, at 2:30 p.m. at the Beardsley Funeral Home in Chariton, conducted by the Rev. A. E. Beals of the Russell Baptist church and burial was made in the Russell cemetery.
