"HILDA MARGUERITE DURNIN SILBERNAGEL
SLIDELL - Hilda Marguerite Durnin Silbernagel, 90, died Saturday, May 18, 2002, at her daughter's home. She was a native of Kentwood, a former resident of Kenner, Amite and Metairie and a graduate of Woodland High School in Amite. She worked for campaigns of various non-profit organizations. She managed and organized the campaign for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for six years and retired from the Leukemia Society. She was also a longtime member of Beta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, the Kenner Lion's Auxiliary, the Amite Lion's Auxiliary, the Kenner Chapter 2624 AARP and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.
She is survived by two daughters, Dianne S. Daniel of Covington and Sandra S. Solar of Slidell; one son, John Andrew Silbernagel of Jonesboro, Ga.; two sisters, Bertha D. Davis and Melba D. Smith; six grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Frederick Silbernagel; her parents, John and Emma Durnin; one sister, Virgie Mae D. Courtney; and two brothers, Raymond E. Durnin and Norman O. Durnin.
Visitation will be today at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 until 10:15 a.m. The Rev. Jack Nutter will conduct the funeral at 10:30 a.m. at St. Helena Catholic Church. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery, Hillsdale."

A resident of Metairie for 11 years, she died of ovarian cancer at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2002, at her daughter's home in Slidell. She was 90, a native of Kentwood and a former resident of Kenner for 28 years who, after retirement, lived in Amite for 12 years. Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Wednesday. Religious services at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment in Roberts Cemetery, Hillsdale. Survived by her two daughters, Dianne S. Daniel, Covington, and Sandra S. Solar, Slidell; a son, John Andrew Silbernagel, Jonesboro, Ga.; six grandchildren, Patricia S. Trotter, Andrew F. Silbernagel II, William Joseph Silbernagel, Timothy W. Daniel, Christopher W. Daniel and J. Richard Parker; three great-grandchildren, Harley Trotter, Carmen Trotter and Savannah Silbernagel; and two sisters, Bertha D. Davis and Melba D. Smith. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Andrew Frederick Silbernagel; parents, John and Emma Durnin; a sister, Virgie Mae D. Courtney; and two brothers, Raymond E. Durnin and Norman O. Durnin. She was a graduate of Woodland High School in Amite. For many years she worked for the campaigns of various non-
profit organizations, including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Muscular Dystophy Association and Hemophilia Foundation. She organized and managed a campaign for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for six years. She then went to the Leukemia Society, where she stayed until her retirement in December 1978. She was a longtime member of Beta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Kenner Lions Club Auxiliary, Amite Lions Club Auxiliary, Kenner Chapter 2624 of American Association of Retired Persons and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. In lieu of flowers, enrollment of Masses preferred. "
