Captain Dead, three officers and six men hurt at Camp Beauregard
Alexandria, LA, Aug. 6 - During hand grenade practice at Camp Beauregard today Captain Arthur A. Diettel of the 114th Engineers was killed and three Lieutenants, a Sergeant, and five privates were slightly injured.
Details of how the accident occurred and the names of those injured were not available here today. Diettel was from New Orleans.

Alexandria, LA, Aug. 6 - A military inquiry was started tonight to ascertain the cause of the premature explosion at Camp Beauregard today of a hand grenade causing the death of Captain Arthur A. Diettel, of New Orleans, and injury of three lieutenants, a sergeant and five privates. Captain Diettel was instructing a number of men of the 114th Engineers in the use of grenades when a grenade which he held in his hands exploded. The injured, none of whom were hurt seriously, are: Lietenants Sidney H. Michaels, Chicago; John W. Anderson, Shreveport; John R. Carlson, Boston; Sergeant Caster Cruell, Alexandria; Privates L. S. Baldwin, New Orleans; James Gray, Gary, Ind.; Nora Stelley, Abbeville, La.; Lee W. Hunter, Joplin, Mo., and Daniel Burns, Springfield, Ill.
