Services Monday For Mrs. Gooden
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Fitch Funeral home for Mrs. Abigail Gooden, widow of the late Earl P. Gooden, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Sarjent, 546 Nowlin ave., Thursday night, May 5. Mrs. Gooden. who was the daughter of John and Lucy Ann McKim, was born at Lawrenceburg in 1883. She attended Lawrenceburg schools and was a graduate of Charleston. Ill. Teaehers' College. Prior to her marriage in 1910, she taught at Homestead school. Mr. Gooden taught at Greendale school for many years before entering the internal. Revenue service, and later associated with the Gooden-Seitz Insurance agency. For some time Mr. and Mrs. Gooden and family resided al.330 E. William street site of the Leland O. Dunning Insurance agency today, local residents remember it as one of the loveliest private residences in the city.
Until her illness three years ago, Mrs. Gooden was active in Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority and the Review Club. She was also a member of Beecher Presbyterian. church for over twenty years.
Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Sarjent, two granddaughters Gail Sarjent and Mrs. Russell Cravens, two great grandchildren, Patty Ann and Danny Cravens. Also two sisters, Miss lna, McKim and Mrs. C. A. Borchers ot Indianapolis. She left three nieces, Mrs. Charles Reagan of New York; Mrs. Seiber
Nicholson, Orlando. Fla.; Mrs. Chester Leiendecker, Indianapolis, and one nephew, Tom McKim, of South Carolina. Her husband preceded her in death in 1933.
