VALENTINE EARHART KISSGEN

Valentine Earhart Kissgen , a retired utilities engineer for New Orleans city government, died Tuesday at Touro Infirmary. He was 78. Mr. Kissgen was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. He attended the Tulane University School of Engineering. He was a Navy commander during World War II and the Korean War, serving in the 3rd Construction Battalion. He worked for the city for 30 years before retiring in 1977. He was past president of the American Public Works Association and a member of Oak Park Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife, June Conravey Kissgen ; a son, Paul Kissgen ; a daughter, Elizabeth K. Butler; a brother, Calvin Earhart Kissgen ; and three grandchildren. A funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. Visitation will be today from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and Thursday after 8 a.m. Burial will be in Lafayette Cemetery No. 1.
