BANKSTON , HAMPTON SHELTON "BUDDY"

Died 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 1988, at Medical Center of Baton Rouge. He was 60, a native of Independence and resident of Livingston. He was a retired pipefitter with Local 198 and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at Seale Funeral Home, Livingston, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Visiting at Red Oak Baptist Church, 1 p.m. until religious services at 2 p.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Wilton Wall and the Rev. Tommy Jackson. Burial in New Red Oak Cemetery.

Survived by wife, Velma Erline Bankston , Livingston; two daughters and a son-in-law, Mrs. Diane and Gary Whitehead, Livingston, and Ruby Lee McAllister, Clinton, S.C.; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Becky Bankston , Livingston; a sister, Doraldena Foster, Lafayette;a brother, Johnny Bankston , Independence; five grandchildren, Bryan and Danette Whitehead, Bridgette and Aric Bankston , all of Livingston, and Shantell McAllister, Clinton, S.C.

Preceded in death by parents; four brothers; a sister; and a granddaughter,Michelle Whitehead. Pallbearers will be Don Louis, Bobby Joseph, Jimmy, Raymond and Grant Bankston and Jerry Clayton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Wimp Ballard and members of Hurd Merrill Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church, past master of Hurd Merrill Masonic Lodge No. 454, F&AM, in Livingston and was a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 198.
