Bandon Man Claims Bride At Chehalis
A wedding of interest to residents of this locality took place early in May at the First Christian church in Chehalis, Wash., where Miss Mary Lou Hayes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Hayes of Chehalis, became the bride of George M. Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milford Harris of Bandon. More than 200 guests attended the double ring ceremony which was performed by the Rev. E. L. Frost.
For her wedding the bride wore a gown of white slipper satin with full-length train edged in lace. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a halo of imported illusion and the only ornament was a gold lavalier, a keepsake from an aunt. She was given in marriage by her father.
Miss Margaret Hayes, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Mrs. George Calvin, jr., of Centralia, and Mrs. James Hale, jr., of Chehalis. Betty Jo Adams was flower-girl.
Raymond Harris of Skomokawa was best man for his brother. Ushers were Waldo Hayes, brother of the bride; Harry Harris, brother of the groom, and George Calvin jr. Julian Middleton played the organ wedding music and Mrs. Ralph Leaf and Mrs. Meade Middleton were soloists. Little George Bartlett, as ring bearer, carried the rings in a large calla lily.
Following the ceremony a reception was held in the church social hall. After a wedding trip to Seattle the couple will go to Newport, R.I., to make their home.
