ABIAH GUARD, RETIRED FARMER, DIED YESTERDAY

Abiah Haes Guard, 72 year old retired farmer, died at his home at 1527 Grand avenue at 10 a. m. yesterday after an illness of about one month's duration. He was born in Elizabethtown, Ohio, July 1, 1867, and had resided here since 1900.
He married Miss Anna Jackson in 1892 and seven sons and two daughters were born of this union. His wife, two sons and a daughter, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Harry Blue of Poplar Bluff; five sons, Cledus F. Guard of Poplar Bluff, Lewis Guard of DeSoto, Lester Guard of Philadelphia, Hayes Guard of Knoxville, Iowa, and Paul Guard of Cape Girardeau; three brothers, two sisters and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Greer-Croy chapel at 2:30 p. m. Tuesday with interment following in the City cemetery. The Rev. Earl Coats will officiate at the services to be conducted under the direction of the Greer-Croy undertaking company.
