Notes
General:
Per Findagrave.com Obediah Grimes
Birth: Jun. 4, 1805 Ashe County, North Carolina, USA
Death: Apr. 9, 1897 Ottawa County, Kansas, USA

Over his lifetime, Obediah Grimes had about 17 children by three marriages; I say "about" 17 children because there may have been others who did not survive, errors, or that I did not find.
Obediah Grimes was born in North Carolina: June 4, 1805 (according to records, although the cemetery stone says 1806 and that may be correct?) - to Jacob Grimes (Birth 1776, Wilkes,North Carolina,USA - Death 4 Aug 1862 in Cookeville, Putnam, Tennessee, USA) - and Elizabeth Tatum (Birth 1784-03-07, Brunswick,Virginia,USA -Death 1872-12-19, Cookeville, Putnam,Tennessee,USA).
Obediah Grimes lived in North Carolina, Kentucky, and Kansas and was a farmer.
Obediah married first to Lucinda Ann Jennings - about 1825 - and together they had 2 daughters and 2 sons: Evangeline, Lucinda, Marion, and William. Wife Lucinda died in 1836....
Obediah Grimes comes into my family history as he married his second wife Ann Moore in August of 1836, and had a family of 8 children with her: Elizabeth, Martha, Judith, Lewis, Emily, Nathaniel, Wallace, and Sarah. (One of those children - Emily Grimes, married my great grand Uncle, Thomas J. Long). Second Wife Ann died in 1855....
and Obediah married a third time, to Eliza Jane Miller, about 1855/56, and had 3 sons and 1 daughter: James, Tunius (Junius?), Aaron, and Nancy.
This wife survived Obediah, who died in April of 1897; Eliza Jane died in 1908.
