BRILLIANT WEDDING
Nuptilas of Miss Cecile Fabacher at Family Mansion
Daughter of Colonel Lawrence Fabacher United in Marriage to Henry Edwards
One of the most lavishly-appointed weddings ever held in this city was that of Miss Cecile Fabacher and Henry Edwards, which took place yesterday morning.
Lawrence Fabacher spared no expense in decorating his mansion at No. 5705 St. Charles Avenue for the auspicious occasion. The interior needs little adornement to make it more attractive because of the elegance of furnishings and decoration. The parlors and dining-room were veritable bowers of beauty with the cut flowers, palms and other potted plants. The same care was taken in arranging the handsome edifice, where the nuptial mass was chanted by Bishop Van De Ven, of Alexandria. The aisles were embellished with palms, while attention was paid to the sanctuary, especially to the lighting and floral arrangement.
At 11 o'clock, the hour appointed for the wedding, the bishop, accompanied by Father Maring, of St. Charles College, Grand Coteau, La., as deacon, and Father Bede, of Chinchuba Deaf Mute Institute, as subdeacon, entered the sanctuary. Other priests present were: Fathers Twelleyer, of Spring Hill College; Prim, Blever, Murphy, LeBlanc, Gerlach and Roth.
The bridesmaids were Misses Lilly Fabacher, Albion Edwards and Edna Fabacher. The groomsmen were Lawrence Fabacher, Jr., Gus Rapho and Falvy Fox. The ushers were Tom Faroll, James Lemarie, Walter Girault and George Massie.
Before the arrival of the briday party the "Meditation," from "Thais," was beautifully rendered by an orchestra. Following the marriage ceremony Miss Camille Durr sang the "Ave Maria," of Gounod, with violin accompaniment. "Lohengrin's" wedding march announced the coming of the bridal party. De Merlier's three-voice mass was sung by an entire male choir, with Messrs. Kernion, Trefry and Donnellan as soloists. The personnel of the choir was as follows:
First tenors, A. Kernion, Jacobs and R. Bassich; second tenors, M. Donnellan, Chas. Kincaide and C. Bassich; bassos, W. P. Trefny, Fincken and Williamson, J. B. Basich, director.
Mendelssohn's wedding march was played as the bridal party left the church.
At the offertory, Kart's "Saloe Mundl" was magnificently sung by Mr. Trefny, as were solos in the "Kyrio" and "Agnes Dei."
A wedding breakfast was served with covers for eighty persona. The bishop and other clergy were present. The health of the bridal couple was toasted in bumpers of champaigne.
The reception in the evening was attended by many friends of the family. For the first time in the Italian Terrance, which had been brilliantly illuminated and adorned with flowers, ferns and other potted plants, Mr. Fabacher's own design of an electric fountain was lighted. The ceiling of the terrace is made resplendent by a 3,000-candle power arc light, with a revolving globe of varied colors which throws a scintillating hue around the enclosure. As the water rises and falls in the fountain, different colored incandescent lights produce rainbow and other color effects. It is one of the finest of its kind ever installed in this city.
Mr. Edwards is one of the most prominent men of this city and is engaged in the coffee brokerage business.
