Warren J. Crane, veteran sugar firm executive, died at Hotel Dieu Saturday morning following a heart attack. Mr. Crane was taken to the hospital Thursday. He was 69 years old and lived at 1938 Peniston street.
Funeral services will be held today at 12:30 p. m. at the House of Bultman, St. Charles and Louisiana avenues. Mr. Crane was born in New Orleans and educated at the College of the Immaculate Conception. He had been connected with the American Sugar Refinery for the past 51 years. Before that he was associated with the Louisiana Sugar Refining Company, which merged with the American. He has been superintendent of the company's Chalmette plant for the past several years.
Last year, at a ceremony on his golden anniversary with the company, officials recalled how he had planned most of the company's buildings and how he used such foresight that although the buildings were constructed in 1890, they are still thoroughly modern.
Survivors include his widow, the former Miss Marie Murphy; four daughters, Mrs. J. W. Sturdivant and Misses Marie Lucille, Yvonne and Victory Crane; six sons, Rene M., John M., Price, Lawrence L., Edward T., and Warren J. Crane Jr., and a brother, George P. Crane.
