CRANE Rene Murphy Crane, Jr., died Monday, April 22, 2013, at the age of 84. Rene is the son the late Rene Murphy Crane, Sr., and Inez Hagen Crane, and brother of the late Inez Catherine Crane Prendergast. Rene is survived by his brother Morell Spencer Crane, Sr., and a host of nieces and nephews including John Luke Prendergast, Jr., and wife, Faye; Carol Prendergast McManus and husband, Neil; Kathleen Prendergast Edwards and husband, Ben; Michael Thomas Prendergast and wife, Allison; and Ann Prendergast Graves and husband, Carl; Morell Spencer Crane, Jr. and wife Sharon; David Schwab Crane and wife, Kristy; John Rene Crane, and wife Courtney; and Carolyn Barkley Williams and husband, Phil; Kendall Crane Pearse, and husband Dennis, as well as many grandnieces and grand nephews.
A native New Orleanian, Mr. Crane lived in Metairie for over 25 years. He is a graduate of Jesuit High School and Loyola University and was a member of the Beggars Fraternity, and he participated in many theatre productions. He worked for New Orleans Public Service and Travel Corps for many years. Rene served in the United States Army.
