Baby Born At Dawn of Peace Is Given - the Name of "Victory"
Victory was the name given to a daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Warren J. Crane, 1938 Penniston street, Monday morning, just at the time that New Orleans was waking to the news of peace.
Mr. Crane, who is the superintendent of the American Sugar Refinery, has two sons in the army, Warren J. Crane, Jr., who is with the Headquarters Troop, 39th Division, in France, and Rene M. Crane, who is an instructor in Springfield college.
Mary Victory Crane, the twelfth child born to Mr. and Mrs. Crane, will bear the name of America's greatest day in history.

SULLIVAN ADRESSES CLASS AT SPRING HILL

Tells Graduates Influence of Religion and Education Terminated War
Mobile, Ala., June 18 -- To the civilizing influence of religion and education is due to the growth in righteous power and broadening influences of this country and its victorious termination of the world war, declared Colonel John P. Sullivan, exalted ruler of the Elks of New Orleans and past grand exalted ruler of the national organization, in an address at the eighty-ninth annual commencement exercises held Wednesday morning in the Battle House auditorium.
Colonel Sullivan attributed the leadership of America among the nations of the world today to the ideals of the institutions of this country which stand for religious and educational thought. He told the graduates that they were going out into the world fully equipped for the battle of life, having been trained by the Jesuit Fathers, and wished them prosperity and success in all of their undertakings.
Degrees of bachelor of science and art were conferred upon the seventeen graduates of the college by the Rev. J. C. Kearns, S. J., president of Spring Hill College. The Rt. Rev. Edward H. Allen, bishop of the Mobile diocese, had a seat of honor upon the stage.
Thomas J. Halls of Montgomery, an A. B. student, delivered the valedictory address for his class. Halls had the honor of being the ranking student in point of attendance in his class.

Services from the House of Bultman, St. Charles Avenue on Louisiana Avenue on Monday afternoon, December 18, 1972 at 12:30 o'clock. Followed by Requiem Mass at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Camp Street near Girod Street.
Interment in Metairie Cemetery.

Rene M. Crane Sr., a retired accountant for Exchange Oil and Gas Corp., died at 11:58 p.m. Saturday at Southern Baptist Hospital. He was 72.
Funeral services will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Monday from the House of Bultman, 3338 St. Charles Ave. A Requiem Mass will be said at St. Patrick's Church, 724 Camp St.
Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery.
A lifetime resident of New Orleans, Mr. Crane was a graduate of Jesuit High school and of Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala.
Mr. Crane was an accountant for the Exchange Oil and Gas Corp. in New Orleans until his retirement two years ago. After his retirement, he remained with the firm on a consultant basis.
He was a member of the Petroleum Club of New Orleans.
Mr. Crane is survived by his widow, Mrs. Inez Hagen Crane; one daughter, Mrs. John L. Prendergast; two sons, Rene M. Crane Jr. and Morell S. Crane; two sisters, Miss Marie Lucille Crane and Mrs. Mary Victory Boudreaux; three brothers, John Crane of New Orleans, Lawrence Crane of New York, and Edward Crane of Godfrey, Ill.; and 10 grandchildren.

One of the pretty affairs of last week was the tea at which Miss Ruth Von Arx was hostess in honoy of Miss Inez Hagen, a bride-to-be of this month.
The guests included Misses Sally Morrison, Ruth Dermoty, Marie Lucille Crane, Lora, Vivian and Thelma Hagen, Amelie Aldige, Ethel Passalaqua, Frances Morris and Messrs. Marcus A. Sublette, Woody Heaton, Withers Woodfin, Richard J. Hagen, J. V. Ponder, R. R. Hagen, Warren Crane and several others.
Miss Mary Frances Morris as hostess on Friday of last week at a "kitchen shower" in honor of Miss Hagen. The guests besides Miss Hagen were Misses Amelie Aldige, Miriam Butler, Vivian, Lora and Thelma Hagen, Lucille Taylor, Anna May Leone, Nan Alpha, Masdames Soule Day, Withers Woodfin, Ralph Heaton, Jules Aldige, Robert Bishop, M. The wedding of Miss Inez Kathryn Hagen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Hagen, to Mr. Rene M. Crane was celebrated at high noon Wednesday in the Mater Dolores church, the Rev. Father Prim officiating.
The bride had as her attendants her sisters, Misses Thelma Hagen, as maid of honor, Vivian Hagen, as bridesmaid, Misses Lora Hagen, Marie Lucille Crane, Ruth Von Arx and Miriam Butler were garland bearers.
Mr. Crane had as his best man his brother, Mr. Jack Crane, and Mr. Jean Wallet as groomsman. The ushers were Messrs. Price and Lawrence Crane, Gerald Glass and R. J. Hopkins. The church was decorated with ferns, palms and roses and during the ceremony a solo was sung by Miss Lillian Abbot.
A reception followed at the home of the bride's parents in Fern street.
Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Foster and Mr. and Mrs. Stubbs of New York.
