He was a parishioner of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, River Ridge, Louisiana, where he also served as an usher. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Rose Mary Silbernagel, his sons George V. Silbernagel III, (wife Suzie Johnston), Daniel R. Silbernagel Sr., (wife Ana), and daughter Lynn J. Silbernagel. Preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Gadel Silbernagel, his father George V. Silbernagel Sr., and step-mother Inez Silbernagel. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Silbernagel and Daniel R. Silbernagel Jr., his step-grandchildren, Alma Leljedal (husband Tim), Rudy and Alicia Rivas, Grant and John Carroll, one great-grandson, nieces and nephews. A native and former resident of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of River Ridge for the past 16 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass from St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 10021 Jefferson Hwy., River Ridge, on Tuesday morning, January 6, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by Mass at the church. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery.
