Hi Folks,
Well, as the Subject line in the header states, my Mother is hurting today. The reason she is hurting is that she had a fall yesterday morning in the back yard. She went to hang up a couple of bed sheets yesterday because it was so beautiful, as she'd say. The grass was wet from the morning dew and she had on a pair of old tennis shoes, that were slick as the slicks on a dragster. It would seem that as she stepped on to the cemented patio, her foot slip and down she went. It would seem that she landed on her posterior and with enough force to fracture a rib. She called for me, hurting naturally.
I called my neighbors on the phone, the men weren't home, but I got one of the neighbors to come help me on getting her up off the ground. As she stood up on her feet, she hollowed in pain. The neighbor thought she might have a broken hip, but I told her that if she had broken hip she wouldn't be able to stand there as she was doing. We got the mother into the house and after several minutes of brow beating we finally convinced her to let me take her to EJGH's Emergency Room.
After I got her there, a nurse helped me get her into a wheelchair and into the ER, while I went home to get her purse which had her ID cards, Medicare card, etc. The mother, sister and I spent four hours waiting for her to see an Emergency Room doctor. Except for her hurting, the mother is doing as best as could be expected.

Folks,
I thought I'd email you to let you know that Pat and I have decided to put your Aunt Evelyn in "Summerville At Kenner", which is a Senior Assisted Living facility, this Saturday. The doctors are finally coming around to what I've been saying for a good while that my mother has one of the many forms of Dementia. The Dementia is effecting her short term memory. She won't remember that I went to lunch with her yesterday, but she does remember things that happened 10, 20+ years ago.
