Former Fort Dodge Mayor Will Patterson, 72, died this afternoon from an apparent heart attack while shoveling snow. Police and emergency medical technicians were called to his home at 1260 N. 23rd St. shortly before 2 p.m. today. Police Lt. Dennis Mernka was the first on the scene and found Patterson unconscious and not breathing. EMTs arrived shortly after and tried to revive the former mayor.
