McCRORY - Christine Musgrove Derbes, 87, formerly of McCrory, retired professor at Tulane University in New Orleans, died of heart failure June 7 in Chevy Chase, Md. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in McCrory. Mrs. Derbes, the widow of Dr. Vincent J. Derbes, leaves a daughter, Anne Derbes of Silver Spring, Md.; a son, David Derbes of Chicago, and three grandchildren.

Christine Derbes , a retired professor at Tulane University's School of Social Work, died Wednesday of a heart attack at her home. She was 87. Mrs. Derbes was born in McCrory, Ark., and lived in Oklahoma City and New Orleans before moving to Silver Spring, Md., four years ago. She graduated from Louisiana State University and received a master's degree in social work from Tulane University. During World War II, she was involved in several epidemiological studies and was among the first to use computers to analyze the data. She also worked with Tulane's Pediatrics Department, helping provide support to families of children with cystic fibrosis. Survivors include a son, David Derbes of Chicago; a daughter, Anne Derbes of Silver Spring; and three grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Tulane University, 1110 Broadway St.
