Aubrey "Steve" Hayes, the son of Warren Lester and Blanche Henrietta (Nelson) Hayes, was born on November 3, 1941, in Webster City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Webster City, graduating with the "Class of 1960".
Steve was to married Kathleen Kay Shaeffer, they later divorced. He then married Janice Orton who passed away. On October 14, 1987, he was united in marriage to Beverly Claude. Steve was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking (especially ribs), ice fishing, snowmobiling, but most all Steve loved attending his grandchildren's activities. He was a Green Bay Packers fan and had a passion for raising bulldogs. Steve passed away on Tuesday, August 25th, 2015, in Wausau, Wisconsin, at the age of 73 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jan in 1984; brothers, Harlan, Bob and Gary and sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Glenda. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hayes of Webster City; six children: Bob Hayes and Diane of Mosinee, WI; Kris Pearson and Mike of Wausau, WI, Mark Claude and Michele of Webster City, Greg Claude of Webster City, Becky Orton Crestsinger and Troy of Des Moines and Brenda Orton Belt and Lee of Broken Arrow, OK; 16 grandchildren: Ashley and Myranda Hayes, Morgan and Drew Pearson, Jacob, Garett and Mason Claude, Taylor and Jordon Pennington, Sterling and Madison Belt, and Tim, Cody, Samantha, Amber and Zac Crestsinger; brothers: Clifford Hayes of Webster City, Leroy Hayes and Karen of Clive, Roger Hayes and Teresa of Webster City, Russell Hayes and Connie of Stewartville, MN, Gene Hayes and Jan of Ft. Dodge and Ted Hayes and Jeri of Webster City and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Hayes of Garner and Alice Hayes of Webster City.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 28th, 2015, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Webster City with Pastor Michael Kroona officiating. Visitation is Thursday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
