Constance Koehler Wed To Lyall Louis Frank Jr.
WITH MASSES OF CHRISTMAS greenery and white flowers decorating the candlelit altar of the First Presbyterian Church, Miss Constance Koehler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Koehler, 1845 Wilber St., was married on Sunday afternoon to Lyall Louis Frank Jr., son of Dr. and Mrs. L. L. Frank, 534 N. Lafayette Blvd.
Pews were tied with holly, huckleberry and white bows, while the altar gleamed with soft light from many white candles.
Rev. Daniel W. Fowler conducted the service and Mrs. Hugh Van Skyhawk played nuptial music.
Ushering the guests were Donald Fisher, John Mull and Charles Hillman, of South Bend; Lt. Franklin Schurz Jr., of South Bend and Ft. Banks, near Boston; Robert Gipson, Bloomington, Ill., and Lt. Delos Robbins of Missoula, Mont, who is stationed at Camp Atterbury, Ind. The best man was Charles Eldridge.
The bride was attended by her cousin, Mrs. Delos Robbins, of Missoula, as matron of honor. Her bridesmaids were Miss Ellen Frank, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Anne Mossberg, and Mrs. John Mull of South Bend; Miss Barbara Ruff, Mishawaka; Miss Virginia Sharp, Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Mrs. Hubert Hoover of Indianapolis, the former Donna Bolt, as brides-maids.
The bride wore a gown of imported Celini satin in a Dresden rose shade fashioned with a sweet-heart neckline and hall-mandarin collar edged with seed pearls and rhinestones. The bodice was fitted and the long sleeves were pointed at the wrist. The lull skirt of satin tell in unpressed pleats, extending
into a full court train. As a head-dress she wore a pearl-edged Mary Stuart cap of imported lace in a matching Dresden rose shade, with finger-tip and blusher veils. She carried a cascade bouquet of white orchids and lilies of the valley. For jewelry, she wore a pearl and gold bracelet, a gift of the bridegroom.
In Christmas Red
Her attendants were in matching waltz-length gowns of imported Christmas red Italian velveteen, with which they carried cascade bouquets of white poinsettias and holly. Their gowns were made with boat necklines, fitted bodices and long fitted sleeves. The skirts were plain at the front with the fullness drawn to the back. As headdresses they wore bands of holly in their
hair.
Afterward the reception was held in the Oliver Hotel, where the couple received before an arrangement of white flowers. The serving tables were decorated with greenery and sparkling Christmas balls. A Christmas tree was placed in the Rotary Room, where the mantle was decorated in the same
motif. The cake table was festooned with smilax and white flowers. After the supper, Harlan Hogan and his orchestra played for dancing.
The couple left on a brief honeymoon in Chicago, and will be at home after Jan. 4 at 3914 N. LaSalle, Apt. 510, Indianapolis.
The bride is a graduate of Leelanau Schools, Glen Arbor. Mich. and Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colo., where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta national social sorority. Per Online Obituary
Constance "Connie" Koehler Frank was born in South Bend on May 31, 1929 to Gladys and R.W. Koehler. She passed peacefully on June 7, 2024 just a week after her 95th birthday.
Connie, nicknamed "Tot" by her brother loved life and adventure. She graduated from Colorado College, met and married Lyall Louis Frank Jr., "Lou," and they made their home in South Bend where they had four children.
In retirement Connie and Lou split their time between their lake house on Lake Michigan, Arizona in the winter and their cabin in Montana in the spring and fall with the express intention of enjoying time with their children and grandchildren. Connie loved to ride horses and was always looking for her next trail riding adventure both in Arizona and Montana. She was an avid reader and passed along that love by purchasing Kindles for whoever wanted one. She loved to travel until a stroke bound her to a wheelchair in 2014. Connie was always asking how all the grandchildren were doing and delighted in pictures of her great-grandchildren.
Connie and Lou were married for 62 years before his death in 2016. Connie's legacy lives on in her four children, Kim (Jeff) Carroll, Daniel (Becky), Douglas (Pam) and Karen (Tom) Neal, thirteen grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned at Connie's request. Condolences can be made on the Indianapolis Neptune Society website.
