[The following stories were posted on Ancestry.com for Thomas Morrison Miller, 1871-1957, whose father was Job Miller, which seems to fit this Thomas]

Becoming a Methodist Minister
In approximately 1903, Thomas began going to the Methodist Church and became very active in it. He would get up and talk in church and seemed to have great conviction and inspiration for doing so.
Some members of the church went to his father, Job Miller - who was a well-to-do farmer and a great supporter of the church, even though he did not attend services. These church members told Job that Thomas was called to preach and that Job should send him to college to learn to preach.
Job agreed to do it. Thomas was anxious to go, so his whole family moved to Moore's Hill, Indiana so that he could attend the Methodist College there - Moore's Hill College.
When he became a minister, he had to get a horse and buggy since he had to preach at four different widely separated churches. It was called a circut. He preached at two churches each Sunday alternatedly. The churches were called West Point, South Boston, Conways and New Philadelphia.

How Popie Lost His Good Suit
My family has always refered to my paternal grandfather's parents as Popie and Momie. Popie was a Methodist circuit rider minister. He had four churches and preached at two of them each Sunday.
One day Popie received word that one of men from his flock had passed away. Momie carefully packed his good suit for him to carry in his wagon, so he could wear his old suit for the journey. The roads were very muddy from recent rains, so the older suit got quite muddy during the trip. When Popie reached the home of the deceased, he was welcomed by church members. Soon afterwards, he hung up his good suit and retired for the evening.
When Popie got up the following morning, he started to prepare for the gentleman's funeral service. Unfortunately, his good suit was not where he had so carefully placed it the night before. As he pondered his predicament, some ladies from the church came to see him. They had prepared the body for the funeral service, and wanted their minister to see what a good job they had done in this regard.
My great grandfather was very surprised to see that the deceased was layed out in his coffin wearing Popie's good suit! Of course, he could not ask for it back, so he cleaned up his old suit as best he could, preached the funeral service - and went home.
