Private funeral services took place from the House of Bultman, St. Charles Ave. and Louisiana Ave., on Tuesday morning, May 12, 1970, at 9:30 o'clock. Rev. Charles M. Seymour Jr., rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiated. Interment In Garden of Memories, 4800 Airline Highway.

FUNERAL IS HELD FOR MRS. GIHON
Former Item Columnist Expires at 91
Private funeral services were conducted Tuesday for Mrs. Anne Barton Gihon, former columnist for the old New Orleans Item, who died Monday at Ochsner Foundation Hospital after a brief illness. She was 91.
Interment was in the Garden of Memories. Arrangements were handled by the House of Bultman, 3337 St. Charles.
Mrs. Gihon, known to New Orleans readers for 20 years as Barbara Brooks, authored an advise-to-the-lovelorn column, which was noted for its easy style and readership in all age groups.
She was also women's editor of the Item and wrote occasional columns for movie magazines and the London Spectator. Mrs. Gihon also lectured frequently during her career at local high schools.
She retired in 1945.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., Mrs. Gihon received her education at the Friends Select School there.
Mrs. Gihon was a member of the Orleans Club and Le Petit Salon and was a former member of the board of directors of the Volunteers of America in New Orleans. She was also a former member of the English Speaking Union of New Orleans. She resided at 2234 Napoleon.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Clarke Salmon, of New Orleans, a grandson and a great-granddaughter.
