Edgar Eugene "Ed" Irwin, a retired purchasing agent for Gerhardt's Inc., passed away at Canon Hospice on Saturday, July 14, 2007. He was 75. Ed was born in Escambia County, FL, reared in New Orleans, and lived in Metairie for the past 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Father of John H. and George K. Irwin. Father-in-law of Diane Kelley Irwin. Son of the late Minnie Esther Bryars and John Cecil Irwin. Brother of Gerri Irwin Vega Hellbach . Grandfather of Sean Irwin. Uncle of Charles and Diane Hellbach , Jerome and Shirley Hellbach , Ronnie and Donna Vega, Darren and Dorie Vega, and the late Cheryl Hellbach . Also survived by grand nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the Kenner Funeral Home of L. A. Muhleisen and Son, 2607 Williams Blvd., on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation after 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of usual remembrances, donations to the American Diabetes Association, 3340 Severn Ave., Metairie, LA 70002.
