Dorothy Stapleton, 81, W. Brandywine native by Bill Price
Dorothy Hayes Stapleton, 81, of West Brandywine, a homemaker and retired employee of Lukens Steel in Coatesville, died Sunday at Brandywine Hospital and Trauma Center.
For 25 years, Mrs. Stapleton worked in the microfilm laboratory at Lukens. She retired in 1976.
A lifelong resident of West Brandywine, Mrs. Stapleton graduated from Coatesville Area High
School in 1928.
She was a member of Hibernia United Methodist Church and was active in several women's groups there. She also taught Sunday School for more than 10 years.
Mrs. Stapleton was a former member of the West Brandywine Election Board and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Honey Brook. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John D. Stapleton Jr.; a son, John D. Stapleton 3d; a daughter, Ellen N. Eckert; a brother, eight grandchildren and two great-grand-children.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Hibernia United Methodist Church on Hibernia Road in Coatesville. Interment will follow in Brandywine Manor Cemetery in West Brandywine.
Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. today.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Hibernia United Methodist Church Building Fund, R.D. 6, Box 443, Coatesville, Pa. 19320. Arrangements were made by Wilde Funeral Home in Parkesburg.
