Bankston Sr., Travis Alton

A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, he went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 17, 2007. Mr. Bankston , 75, was a resident of Holden, native of Albany and a retired welder of Stupp Pipe Corp.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Katherine Bankston ; three sons and daughters-in-law, Travis and Patricia Bankston of Holden, Ruben and Ann Bankston of Carson City, Nev., and Clint and Theresa Bankston of Watson; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Melody Bankston of Fancy Farm, Ky., Mary and Steve Goynes of Holden, and René and Gary Armstrong of Hoover, Ala. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Grover Cleveland Bankston and Velma Jones Bankston ; and two sisters, Ethyl Hoover and Doris Herring.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home chapel, 12012 U.S. 190 W., Hammond, on Wednesday, April 18, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the funeral service at 7 p.m.
