Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schellman of West Schantz avenue are announcing the engagement and approaching marriage of their granddaughter, Marian Burger, to Lt. Charles Wayne Hayes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Steven Hayes of Spirea drive.
Miss Burger is a graduate of Oakwood high school and of Stetson university in Deland, Fla. She is a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Lieutenant Hayes attended the University of Dayton and the University of Cincinnati and is affiliated with Sigma Chi fraternity. He is stationed at Fort Jackson, Columbia. S. C.
December 8 has been chosen as the date of the wedding which will take place in the chapel at Fort Jackson.
The announcement of the engagement was made at a party given for a few friends yesterday evening by Miss Billie Fitzgibbons at her home on Irving avenue.

Miss Burger And Lt. Hayes Married In South Carolina
Miss Marian Burger and Lt. Charles Wayne Hayes were united in marriage Tuesday afternoon in a ceremony which was quietly solemnized at 4:30 o'clock in the chapel at Fort Jackson, Columbia, 5. C. The post chaplain. Father Joseph P. Call. officiated at the ceremony. The couple was unattended.
Miss Burger was married in a wool suit of purple and fuchsia with matching turban, purple iandbag. black shoes and white doves. She wore a single white
orchid with a deep purple center.
The bride's grandmother, Mrs. Charies Schellman of West Schantz Avenue, chose a blue crepe model with cording trim in front. With this she wore black accessories, white gloves and gartenias. Mrs. Hayes was in Beltium aqua crepe trimmed in jewled buttons. Her accessories were brown and she wore a white orchid. Elizabeth Hayes, sister of the bridegroom, wore a pale yellow
jersey dress accented by a jeweled belt in topaz shade. Her flowers were talisman roses.
Following the ceremony a dinner and reception for the immediate families was held at the Wade Hampton hotel. The two are now at home at Columbia, S. C.
Mrs. Hayes is a graduate of Oakwood high school and Stetson university, Deland, Fla., where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. Lieutenant Hayes is also a graduate of Oakwood high school and attended the University of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton. He was affiliated with Sigma Chi fraternity. At present he is in the department of the adjutant-general at Fort Jackson.
Dayton guests at the wedding were Mrs. Charles Schellman, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hayes and Elizabeth Hayes.
