BANKSTON , JOHN HENRY "JOHNNY"

A resident of Independence, he died Friday, Jan. 21, 2000, at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He was 70 and a native of Livingston Parish. He was a veteran of World War II. Visitation at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, Hammond, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and after 8 a.m. Sunday. Religious services in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. E. Faust and the Rev. E. Rhymes. Interment in Bankston Cemetery, Fourth Ward.

Survived by his wife, Nadine Threeton Bankston , Albany; two daughters, Pamela Burchfield and Brenda Hoover, both of Albany; a son, Don Louis Bankston , Albany; and four granddaughters, Erica Burchfield, Dana Hoover, Lillie Jane Bankston and Katie Bankston .

Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alonzo and Eva Jane Stilley Bankston ; two sisters, Lonnie Mae Clayton and Doraldena Foster; and five brothers, Herman, Leroy, Hampton, Jessie and W.E. "Jack" Bankston .

He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local No. 198, Baton Rouge.
