Per 1860 US Census: 7/12/1860, Whitewater Township, Hamilton County, Ohio
Joseph Hayes is a 35 year old farmer, whose real estate is valued at $23,250, and personal estate is valued at $1,885. His wife, Mary A. Hayes, is 34 and a domestic. Their children are 12 year old son Van, 11 year old son Silas, 6 year old son Enoch. All three attend school.
Also living with the family are 20 year old William Hayes, a farmer, and 35 year old Edward Harney, a day laborer.
All were born in Indiana.
