HERRING , DORIS B. "DOT"

A homemaker and resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 3:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 1996, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was 68 and a native of Independence. Visiting was held at Baker Funeral Home, 640l Groom Road, Baker, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Visiting at the funeral home chapel, 8 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Frank Poole of First United Methodist Church. Interment in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.

Survived by two daughters, Brenda Gail Starks, Baton Rouge, and Deborah Louise Ming, Hanover, Pa.; two sons-in-law, Gerald W. "Jerry" Starks and O. Clyde Ming III.; a sister, Mrs. Cary (Ethel) Hoover, Baker; a brother, Travis Bankston, Watson; and five grandchildren, Kristen D. Starks, Brandon P. Starks, Ryan H. Starks, Lesley E. Ming and Melissa G. Ming.

Preceded in death by husband, Elmer P. Herring ; and parents, Grover C. and Velma M. Bankston. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon P. Starks and Ryan H. Starks; nephews, Gary Lynn Hoover,Cary L. Hoover Jr. and Marcell Parker; and friend, Albert T. Harrison. Honorary pallbearers are members of Half Past Niners Sunday School class.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge, Half Past Niners Sunday School class and Sunday Nite Singles. Memorial donations may be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Association for Retarded Citizens of Baton Rouge or to a charity of choice.
