Selma Corzine

RANTOUL '96 Selma Jane Corzine , age 90, of Rantoul, formerly of Homer, was called home by Jesus at 9:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Her funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 31, at Kirby Funeral Home, 708 S. Main St., Homer. Pastor Ben Hoerr will officiate. Burial will be in the Stearns Cemetery in Fithian. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until service time on Friday.

Mrs. Corzine was born on Jan. 27, 1918, in Muncie, a daughter of Frank and Orvia Johnston Hayes . She married Clyde B. Corzine Sr. on May 7, 1937, in Bloomington. He passed away on Oct. 7, 2000.

Survivors include one son, Clyde (Sandra) Corzine Jr. of Urbana; two daughters, Judy (James) Coyle of Homer and Debra (Robert) Breitenstein of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; four grandchildren, Mark, Scott (Debbie) Coyle, Christopher and Carla Corzine ; five great-grandchildren, Stephen, Robert, Michelle Coyle, Alexis, Damion Corzine ; and two sisters, Martha and Rose Mary.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Selma retired from the University of Illinois in 1981. She was a member of the Muncie Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends at Prairie Village. Memorials may be made to Carle Hospice.
