I also understand Grammaw and uncle Fred were both put in an orohranage >Because Charles Hayes did not support them. An old Lawyer in Richmand was familiar and told me the story. If you ever >come across someone from Cincinnati, black or white, get them to tell you the story about Charles F. Hayes. In 1976 there >was a story about him on television. There is also a street named after him in Cincinnati. >I won't tell the story because I have already been shot down by family members for telling it. That's one reason I'm not too anxious >to share information with Rob Stevens. (John Silbernagel)Medical:
In 1910 Census, I found a Helen Hayes recorded as a servant at Hotel Dieu hospital in New Orleans, She is listed as 21 instead of 23, but was born in Indiana as is correct.
Had a stroke and was in a coma for a long time. She got pneumonia and passed.
Family notes indicate she was born in 1889, but tombstone has 1887. As her husband was a railroad worker, she was not in the social security system, and so the SS death index does not list her. Her death certificate indicates DOB 8/30/1887.
Death certificate says condition which led to death was arteriosclerotic coronary heart disease & auricular fibrillation. Basically that means hardening of the arteries supplying blood to the heart, and a chaotic heart beat.
