HAYES FUNERAL SERVICES HELD SATURDAY
Funeral services for George Hayes of Kankakee, were held Saturday morning at eleven o'clock from St. Patrick's church in Kankakee with Rev. Fr. Sullivan officiating at the Solemn Requiem High Mass.
Burial took place in Calvary cemetery, Piper City, with six of the truck drivers of the American-Marietta Paint Co. serving as casket bearers. '
Brief announcement of the tragic death of Mr. Hayes, which occurred Thursday morning, was published last week. The occident occurred at the American Marietta Paint Company loading garage where Mr. Hayes was foreman, when a truck tire exploded as he was assisting a fellow worker in remountinng the tire onto its rim.
Company employees said Kenlneth Gresham, 803 North Clevelland avenue, was attempting, to replaoe the steel split rim, which ordinarlly sits between the wheel rim and the tire. Gresham told Mr. Hayes that he was having trouble in placing the rim and Hayes squatted beside the tire, and began hammering it into
place.
At this time the tire exploded and the rim shot off, striking ...?
