Miss Morgan, Charles Golay Are Married
GREEN'S FORK, Ind\'97A lovely wedding was solemnized Thursday evening, June 11, at 7 o'clock when Miss Marjorie Morgan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Morgan of Edgewood farm, Green's Fork, became the bride of Charles R. Golay, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Golay of Cambridge City, on the lawn at the home of her parents. Rev. Frank Schottelkorb, pastor of the Cambridge City Christian church, officiated with the single ring ceremony.
Prior to the ceremony, two Earlham students, Miss Martha Burns, harpist, and Don Morris, violinist, furnished a program of bridal airs including "I Love You Truly," "O, Promise Me," "Because," "To a Wild Rose," "Indian Love Call,"
"Ah, Sweet Mystery of Life," "Liebestraum," and other numbers.
The bride was given in marriage by her father and wore a gown of white chiffon, fashioned with a softly draped bodice and a full skirt which fell into a long train. Empress rose point lace, originally used in the wedding gown of the
bride's mother, formed the front and back yoke and completed the long sleeves. Her veil of tulle extended the length of her dress and was fastened with a coronet of the lace. She wore a diamond pendant which fitted in the V neckline of her gown. Her flowers were a bouquet of daisies.
Mrs. Morgan, mother of the bride, chose a dress of natural linen with matching accessories, and the bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Golay, was attired in a navy ensemble. Both wore corsages of garden flowers.
The couple's attendants were Don Golay, brother of the bridegroom, and Abner Morgan, twin brother of the bride.
A four tiered wedding cake was cut and served with punch and ice cream to 80 guests at the reception held after the services. The home was decorated for the occasion in a color scheme of silver and white with garden flowers. Those assisting Mrs. Morgan in serving were Mrs. Paul Halley, Mrs. Lowell Hawkey, Mrs. Richard Tiernan, Mrs. Roy Rieder, Miss Mae King, Miss Alice Ellen Page, Miss Katherine Croxall, Miss Kathleen Beers, and Miss Mary Ellen Albertson.
Mr. and Mrs. Golay left by automobile for a trip to Chicago where they will take a week-end cruise on Lake Michigan on the S. S. American. Mrs. Golay wore for the trip a jacket suit of brown with brown and white accessories. Upon their return they will reside on Lincoln drive in Cambridge City.
The bride is a graduate of Green's Fork High school and Earlham college. She is a member of the A. A. U. W. and Advance club, and has served as secretary of the Wayne County Federation of Women's Clubs for two years and is now vice-president of the organization.
Mr. Golay was graduated from the Cambridge City High school and attended Purdue university.
