My dear Audrey, You might say that I'm a little late in my writing - not quite a year - but I am a lousy letter writer. However, I have thought of you often and wondered how your mother was fairing.
We were down to Long Beach for Christmas visiting Holly (Rita) for the holidays and as it is a little over 400 miles we always stop over at Jack's on the way down - and up - for a day or so. Jack lives in Three Rivers - Tulare County - which is right at the entrance to Seqoia National Park and probably the most beautiful part of California. You will need a map of the West Coast to follow this letter. We spent a week with Dolly and Wayne on the way back a day with Jack and his family. The day we left there for home we both contracted Hong Kong Flu and when we arrived home in San Jose we drove into the driveway, got out of the car and into bed and both stayed there for 3 weeks. Damn near died. However, we beat it and are now back in fair condition again. Enough about us.
Dolly and Wayne have four children: Jimmie-16 yrs, Johnny-14 yrs, Larry 11-yrs, and one girl, Terry 12 yrs. Wayne, as you know is a Lt. Com in the Navy - 23 years - and is captain of a ship out of Long Beach. He is a swell guy and Dolly - of course - is our darling.
Jack and his wife "Bobby" have 5 kids:Mary 12 yrs, and an accomplished pianist. Jackie 11 yrs. Robin - 10 yrs and 2 boys David - 7 yrs and Steven - 6 yrs. Jack is a principle of a school in Tulare County and Bobby teaches the 5th grade in Three Rivers. So, they are doing okay. We see them all two or three times a year.
Jim, our oldest son, is 38 years old and lives in San Jose. He has been with the Post Office for 9 years, owns a nice house in Santa Clara and has 4 kids:Kenny - 12 yrs, a fine ball player, Eddie 10 yrs a honor student and 2 girls Nancy 4 yrs, and a cutie, and Susie 3 yrs. So you can see we have lots of "folks" around an we love them all.
I am under Doctors care and am under constant treatment for my heart. However there is nothing to worry about as I do absolutely nothing that is apt to hurt me. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 195 pounds and in pretty fair shape for my 73 years.
Be sure and tell your mother that I am thinking of her and would really love to see some or all of you people some times.

Mr. and Mrs. Earle P. Harris, long time residents of Santa Clara, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 28.
A reception was given by their three children, Mr. and Mrs. James Harris of Santa Clara, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wood of San Diego, and Mr. and Mrs. John Harris of Three Rivers California.
The elder Harris have 13 grandchild and five great-grandchildren. Music for the party was provided by the grandchildren, eight of whom are musicians.
