Virginia H. Runnels (Died March 19, 2007)
Runnels, Virginia H. died March 19, 2007. Born in Nowata, OK to Wm S and Mabel C Hamilton, reared in Pawhuska and graduated from Oklahoma A & M, she lived in Tulsa from 1940 until her death at 94 years. Married for 51 years to R K ("Ted") Runnels, who predeceased her, they are survived by two sons, Gail R Runnels and his wife, Virginia, and Dr L Kelly Runnels and his wife, Gladys, ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In business she was secretary for a drilling contractor for many years and she also served as business manager of the Runnels Schools of Baton Rouge, LA, founded by her son Kelly. Gifted in sewing, she generously blessed her large family and many others with that talent. She and her husband Ted incorporated into their lives traditional values inherited and learned from their parents, and passed them on in the same ways to their sons. "Gino" set the standard for concern for others in her steadfast, compassionate care for Ted during his lengthy illness. They both highly prized education and learning, formal and informal. We miss them deeply but rejoice in gentle thoughts of their reunion.
As a member of First United Methodist Church, she served in many roles as a token of her faith in Christ. Family to receive friends Wednesday, March 21, 2007, 6 - 8 P.M. at Freeman Harris Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at her church on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. Friends are invited to contribute to the education cause of their choice.
