Richard Gadel Obituary
A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Gadel will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Mary, Mother of Jesus Catholic Church with Rev. Paul LaPalme officiating. Ennichment will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of John Kramer & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Friday, January 4, 2019, at the funeral home. Visitation will resume from 8:30 A.M. until time of service at Mary, Mother of Jesus Catholic Church, on Saturday, January 5, 2019. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 5:30 P.M. on Friday, January 4, 2019, in the Kramer chapel.
Richard Gadel, 82, of Alexandria, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at The Summit Nursing Home. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Emile and Leoni Gadel; siblings, Mervin Gadel, Warren Gadel, and Margarite Steinkamp; daughter, Laura Gadel Jacob; and grandson, Troy Gadel Sanders. Richard was in Retail Management for 62 years, and upon "retirement" began working at Kramer Funeral Home for 15 years. He poured himself into every job he ever had, using one of his greatest gifts, service to others. Richard was born, raised, and educated in New Orleans. After high school, Richard married and moved to Baton Rouge where he and Judy raised 4 children. Later in his career, he volunteered to help Wal-Mart open several stores in Utah where they lived for 3 years, thereafter returning to Louisiana and residing in Alexandria. Richard attended St. Frances Cabrini Church, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, and Mary, Mother of Jesus Catholic Church in Woodworth. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 61 years, Judith Gadel; 3 children, Brad Gadel (Priscilla), Janice Gadel Tyler (Rob), Sandra Gadel Pickard (Chris); 7 grandchildren, Greg Bullock, Travis Bullock, Anthony Sanders, Heather Foshee, Holly Shadell, Jesse Pickard, and Zachary Pickard; 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, cousins and extended family.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Greg Bullock, Travis Bullock, Anthony Sanders, Tucker Foshee, Tim Jacob, and David Foshee. Altar Server will be Dylan Foshee. In lieu of flowers, the Gadel Family requests donations in Richard's memory be sent to St. Jude Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
