Born June 10, 1922 in Chalmers, IN to Daniel and Betty (Blair) Guard
He was in the Navy during World War II.

Orval had lived in White County, Indiana all of his life, and was a 1940 graudate of Chalmers High School in Chalmers, Indiana. He was a United States World War II Navy and Army Veteran. Orval spent his life as a salesman and in management for Firestone. He also was an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance and also sold drapery for Aero Drapery. Orval enjoyed golfing and bowling.

He was a lifetime member of the Chalmers American Legion Post #268 of Chalmers, Indiana. Orval was also a member of the AmVets Post #91, and VFW Post, both of Monticello, Indiana.

Survivors include, Life Long Companion, Margaret Shuey of Monticello, Indiana;

Children,Ronald D, Guard, and Cheryl L. Rainaldi, both of Tucson, Arizona;
Eight (8) Grandchildren; Five (5) Great Grandchildren; Sister, Virginia L. Timmons of Monticello, Indiana;

Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Great Nephews.

Preceded in Death by his parents,Daniel and Betty Guard; Sisters, Evelyn Ricketts, Edna Ruth Reid, and Lula Mary (husband Dean) Yoder; Brother, Raymond J. Guard.
