Per Obituary in the Times-Picayune (New Orleans, LA)
Last Rites Today for Mrs. Nessen
Funeral services for Mrs. Dowa Arras Baas Nessen, sister of State Senator Phil Arras, 1011 Piety street, will be conducted today at 4 p. m. from the funeral home of Jacob Schoen and Son, Inc., 1024 Elysian Fields avenue. Religious services will be at the First English Evangelical Lutheran church and interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul cemetery.
A native of New York and a resident of New Orleans for the past 67 years, Mrs. Nessen was 81 years old. She was the widow of the late Peter Baas and of the late Joseph Nessen. She was a member of the Robert E. Lee Council No. 1, Daughters of America. She died Tuesday.
Mrs. Nessen is survived also by a son, Philip F. Baas; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine Garrity and Mrs. Edna Garrity; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
