MARRIED - Among the pines near Abita Springs, at the residence of Mr. Thomas Cook, a pretty wedding was solemnized, on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1900. By Rev J. M. Fussel, of Franklinton, La., the contracting parties being Miss Mary Lott, adopted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cook, and Mr. William C. Griffin, a well known and popular resident of St. Tammany Parish. The bride and groom were attended by Miss Virginia Davis, a cousin of the groom, and Mr. B. E. Cooper, both of Abita Springs. The bride is a stately dignified girl with winning face and manners. Both the bride and her beautiful dark-eyed bridesmaid wore simple gowns of white muslin, with natural flowers
The ceremony was performed on the open, vine-clad gallery, to a chorus of nature's own song bird - an open air wedding. The assembled guests were all relatives of the Cook and Griffin families with a few city friends and neighbors.
The bride was the recipient of a number of valuable and useful gifts. The guests were served at a table beautifully decorated with ferns.
Mr. Griffin took his bride to reside within a mile of her old home. Their many friends wish them happiness, which they so well deserve.
A pretty feature of the wedding was a number of beautiful children assembled, of relatives and friends. The bride is much beloved by the children, as was attested by their numerous little gifts.
The following were among the guests:
Mrs. C. Fasset, Mr. and Mrs. H. Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Carpenter, Mr. and Mrs. Man. Carpenter, Mrs. Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Parker, Mr. and Mrs. E. Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mrs. E.
