Ark. Banker's Funeral to Be Held Today
Magnolia. Ark. June 18. (Special).\emdash -Funeral services for Thomas Samuel Grayson. 81, chairman of the board of directors and former president of the Farmers Bank and Trust company, will be held at 4:30 p.m., tomorrow at the family residence with the Rev. W. H. Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the Magnolia cemetery under the direction of the Lewis funeral home.
Grayson died in his sleep last night. His physician attributed his death to celebral hemorrage.
He was born in Ouachita county, but lived in Nevada county most of his life, coming to Magnolia in 1910. after which he continued to rise financially, until he was one of the wealthiest citizens in South Arkansas.
He was engaged in the lumber business when young, starting by hauling logs. Then he owned mills.
and was, when he died, a partner in the Foser-Grayson Lumber company of Emerson and Magnolia. He built the Church of Christ here, of which his family are members.
He became president of the Farmers Bank and Trust company in 1913 when the bank was six years old and held the position until last January when he resigned and became chairman of the board of directors, a position he held until his death. He had been president of the Magnolia Cotton Mill company, the Magnolia Wholesale Grocer company, Grayson Motor company, the Cotton Oil Mill. and held considerable stock in the banks and other corporations.
The family celebrated his 81 st. birthday Sunday. Surviving are his widow, the former Miss Mary Elizaheth Hayes, four children. Mrs. W. L. Jameson. Jr., Mrs. R. G. Warnock. Jr., Mrs. T. H. Reeves (Hel-
enn) all of Magnolia; C. H. Grayson, Birmingham, Ala; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Laura Knight of Chidester; Mrs. Ray Caldwell of Stephens, Mrs. Marcia Hesterly of Willisville: three brothers, C. I. Grayson. P. C. and C. W. Grayson of Stephens.
