EMILY GRIMES LONG

The death of Mrs. Emily Grimes Long occured at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John F. Dale, on Thursday, May 17, 1928. Everything that loving hands could do was done for her, but to no avail.

She had been in failing health for a number of years and she bore her sufferings patiently, but feeling her life's work was finished, she looked longingly for the time when God would call her home.

In her early girlhood she put her trust in our Lord, united with the Christian church at Russell, and ever tried to live a life pleasing and acceptable unto Him.

Deceased was born in Kentucky January 9, 1844, and at the time of her passing was aged 84 years, 4 months and 8 days. Early in her life she came with her parents to Lucas county and most of her life was spent in and around Russell.

Just sixty years ago, on the day of her death, she was united in marriage to Thomas J. Long, who departed this life November 25, 1917. To this union five children were born, Lizzie M. Hasselquist, of Wheatland, Wyo.; Laura Johnston and Hattie Dale, of Russell, Iowa; John Long, of Cody, Wyo.; and Samuel R. Long, who died July 13, 1908.

The departed was a loving wife and mother and her memory will long be cherished by her four children, nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Stevens at the M. E. Church in Russel after which the remains were laid to rest in the Russell cemetery.
