PEORIA -- Eugene Guy Goostree, 77, of 114 E. Melbourne died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at ManorCare Health Services.
Born Feb. 25, 1920, in Salem to Guy and Leah Whaley Goostree, he married Mary L. Koehler on Dec. 27, 1940, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon Theinert of Peoria; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Kathryn Hosner of Pompano Beach, Fla.; and one brother, Jim of Mobile, Ala. He was preceded in death by one daughter and one son.
A painter for 40 years, he worked at the Peoria State Hospital and for the last 10 years worked at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, retiring in 1981. He was a member of AMVETS Post 64 in Peoria and Big 25 Sportsman's Club in Victoria.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Wilton Mortuary. The Rev. Paul Isom will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m.
Sunday and one hour before services, both at the mortuary. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens . Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, OSF Hospice or AMVETS Post 64. @ART CAPTION:Eugene Goostree
