The Mater Delorosa church on South Carrolton avenue was the scene Saturday morning, June 27, of the marriage of Miss Rosemary Samsot, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis P. Samsot, to Mr. John Henry Edwards, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Edwards of this city. The ceremony took place at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. Joseph Pyzikiwiez, pastor of the church, officiating.
The matron of honor to the bride was Mrs. Paul Gernhauser of Lake Charles, La., the maid of honor Dr. Evelyn Nix, and her other attendants were Miss Janet Reilley, Miss Rosemary Delaney of Burlington, Ia., Mrs. James Craig Roth, Mrs. Robert D. Samsot, sister-in-law of the bride, and Misses Janet and Helen Edwards.
Mr. Edwards had as his best man Dr. Ralph Nix, and as groomsmen and ushers Messrs. Edward and Robert Aubert, cousin of the bride; the latter's brother, Lieutenant Robert D. Samsot, United States Navy; Mr. Thomas Edwards, his brother; Messrs. Blaise D'Antoni, R. E. Blanchard, Jr., and O. J. Key.
Mr. Edwards and his bride are now on a short trip and upon their return will be at home in an apartment at 1905 South Carrolton avenue.
Out-of-town guests here for the wedding, besides those mentioned above, were Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Delaney of Burlington, Ia.

John Henry Edwards. Jr., 91. passed away on Wednesday, April 05, 2006 at 4:35 AM at his residence in Lafayette. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 7, 2006 in the Delhomme Chapel of the Flowers. Rev. Msgr. Courville, pastor of St. Jules Catholic Church in Lafayette, will officiate at the funeral services. His earthly remains will be cremated and interment will be in Lake Lawn Cemetery in Metairie, LA. John, a native of New Orleans, was born November 3, 1914, the son of the late J.H. Edwards, Sr. and the late Cecile Fabacher Edwards, was a resident of Lafayette since November 1991. He was a graduate of Jesuit High School of New Orleans and Loyola University of New Orleans class of 1938. Mr. Edwards was the former vice president and treasurer of the Jackson Brewing Company in New Orleans, where he was employed for some thirty-two years. Survivors include two sons, John A. Edwards of Arlington, Texas and Ralph D. Edwards of Folsom, LA; six grandchildren, Thomas J. Edwards, Claire E. Edwards, David P. Edwards, Jeffrey R. Edwards, Matthew D. Edwards, and Sara E. Edwards; two sisters, Mrs. James E. Farris of Covington, LA and Mrs. Richard B. Reynaud of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and mother of his two sons, Rosemary Samsot of New Orleans; and his wife Mercedes Briant Bell who passed away March 31, 1996; one brother, Thomas M. Edwards; two sisters, Mrs. Frank J. Coogan and Mrs. Janet Kay. DELHOMME FUNERAL HOME, 1011 Bertrand Drive is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
