Evelyn Anne Geiesler Doran Burns, "OTHER MOMMA", age 97, was born on September 18, 1907, died as a result of Hurricane Katrina on or about August 29. 2005 at Metropolitan Hospice Hospital. She was a native of New Orleans, lived in
Manitou Springs, Colorado, and was living in Chalmette, Louisiana for the last seven years.
Wife of the late Gilbert Burns, and by first marriage, the late Harry William Doran. Daughter of the late William Geissler and the late Anna M. Haab Geissler. Mother of Joyce Ann Doran Gloe, the late Doris Rita Doran Prestenback, and Step Mother of Sharon Burns Madson. Mother-in-law of Joseph Carlo Gloe (Buck) and Larry Madson. Sister of Mildred Geissler Shepherd and the late John Geissler and the late Mllton Geissler. Grandmother of Cheryl Ann Prestenback Buchert, Margie Rita Prestenback Fave and her late husband. Mrs. Evelyn Doran Burns and her first husband, Harry Doran, were the owners and operators of the streetcar restaurants,
"Harry's Diner, Home of Chicken on the Fence" from 1934 to 1954, Chicken on the Fence Riding Academy, Trade Names of "Our Chickens Are Milk Fed" and "Chicken on the Fence" and other businesses. She also owned and operated "Bums Tax Agency" from 1962 to 1982 in Chalmette wth her daughter, Joyce Gloe. She and her second husband, Gilbert Burns, were avid Colorado campers, rock and old bottle hunters. and mountain climbers. Her other hobbies in later life were needle-point, cross stitching, gardening, and watching CNN, football, and golf. Other Momma loved her pet dogs and hummingbirds.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in Matalrle Cemetery, on Saturday.
