FOS - On Wednesday, May 31, 1967, at 3:45 p'clock p. m., JOHN LOUIS FOS SR., husband of the late Josephine Lerouge; father of Peter L. Fos Dr., and John L. Fos Jr.; brother of Victoria Fos and Mrs. Clarence Silbernagel and the late Baptiste and Henry Fos, Mrs. Henry Salz; also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; aged 75 years; a native of New Orleans, La.
Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of United Fruit Co., New Orleans Clerk and Checkers, Burgundy Cleaners, members of Duke St. Amant Memorial Royal Order of Moose, 9th Ward Pleasure Club, Holy Name and Usher Societies of St. Cecilia Church, 9th Ward Louisiana Democrat Association, Mid-City Association and Krewe of Mid City, New Olreans Police Department are invited to attend the funeral.
Services from the funeral home of Jacob Schoen and Son Inc., 527 Elysian Fields Ave. (parking 2223 Chartres St.), on Saturday, June 3, 1967, at 9 o'clock a. m., Requiem Mass at St. Cecilia Church.
Interment in St. Vincent de Paul No. 3.

RITES SATURDAY FOR J.L. FOS SR.
Political Leader, Civil Servant Dies
Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a. m. Saturday in the Schoen Funeral Home, 529 Elysian Fields ave., for John Louis Fos Sr.
Mr. Fos, a retured city Board of Health employe and active in downtown politics for more than half a century, died Wednesday afternoon at his home, 1206 Mazant, following a six-month illness. He was 75.
A religious service is planned at St. Cecilia Church and interment will be in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery No. 3.
Mr. Fos, a native of New Orleans, had been in politics since he was 21 and at the time of his death was a precinct captain in the Ninth Ward for the Louisiana Democratic Association.
He was a retired laundry inspector for the City Board of Health and following this worked for the Third Municipal District assessor's office, retiring from this office about 10 years ago.
Mr. Fos is survived by two sons, John L. Fos Jr. and Peter L. Fos Sr., seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
