GAINESVILLE Penny Hector Gloria Penny Hector passed away on May 19, 2014 at Morningside Assisted Living in Gainesville, GA, after several months of declining health.
She was born in New York on September 30,1923 to Paul and Paula Fabacher, and she had one sister, Antoinette. The Fabacher family was a prominent member of the New Orleans, LA community, and owner of JAX Brewery. Penny attended Marymount School and later graduated from Pembroke/Brown University with a degree in Psychology. She married Carl Hector on 11/17/1945 and was the mother of 4 sons and 1 daughter. Over her lifetime she was a committed, energetic and loving wife and mother. She was active in community volunteerism and was an avid gardener, a skilled painter and an enthusiastic golfer.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Carl and beloved son Paul. She is survived by her children John, Donald, Kent and Carol Hector, son-in-law Terry McGee, daughters-in-law Abby Lork Hector, Joann Mazzeo and grandchildren Molly Hector, Ian and Sasha McGee.
The family will hold a small private memorial service. Her ashes will be interred alongside her husband Carl and son Paul at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA. We extend a special thank you to Morningside, Homestead Hospice, Dr Mini Shivprasad, and to her loving friends and caretakers for their consistent kindness, generosity and compassion.
