Died at 3:50 p.m. Friday at the East Ascension Hospital in Gonzales. He was 79, a native and resident of Prairieville. He was a retired salesman. Body at Welsh Funeral Home in Gonzales from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday. Religious services will be at the Welsh chapel at 9 a.m. Sunday conducted by the Rev. Wallace Burns. Burial in Carpenter Chapel Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Della McCrory Evans of Prairieville; a daughter, Mrs. Rena Burns; a son, R. J. Evans; a sister, Mrs. Leslie Gonzales; a brother, Wesley Evans, all of Prairieville; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and other relatives. Hollabaugh-Spindle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
