Etta May Beaver was the first Deaf wife of Benjamin J. Beaver. She was one of the first Deaf women to get a driver's license in state of Michigan. During the Detroit Assn. of the Deaf (DAD) days, she was an advocate, secretary, and a pianist, despite her deafness, she played well with performances including Mrs. Alexander Lobsinger who performed while she played the piano. The piano was given by her husband, Benjamin, from the money he won in the court on his motorcycle accident against the government. For more information about her, you can find her in "Detroit's Deaf Heritage" book by Kathleen Brockway.
