Merlin David Albert, veteran New Orleans pharmacist, died last night.
He had been president and co founder of Albert and Wegmann Inc. Prescriptions since 1941.
Mr. Albert began his career in the drug field as a parttime clerk in a drugstore while at tending high school. He became a registered pharmacist in 1925 and managed the Cressap Pharmacy until 1927.
In 1941 MR. ALBERT and Joseph F. Wegmann Jr. opened the present Albert and Wegmann Drug Stare at Canal and S. Jellerson Davis pkwy.
Mr. Albert was a member of the Louisiana State Pharmaceutical Association, the National Association of Retail Druggists, the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Holy Name Society at St. Pius X Church
He ls survived by his wife, the former Mae Maet; and one daughter, Miss Merle Cleogene Albert.
FUNERAL SERVICES will be held Wednesday at 11 a. m. at the Jacob Schoen and Son Inc. Auxiliary Funeral Home, 3827 Canal.
A Requiem Mass will follow at St. Piux X Church. Burial will be in St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Toby Russo, Edward Wolf, Gerald Hemstreet, Clifford Weilbaecher, Charles Magne and Donald Bernard.
