Alta Mae Van Horn
BLOOMlNGTON \emdash\emdash Alta Mae Van Horn, 80, of Bloomington died at 6 p.m. Thursday (June 22, 2006) at her residence.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Vernon L. Oakley officiating. Burial will be at Randolph Township Memorial Cemetery, Heyworth. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the memorial home. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.
She was born March 16, 1926, in Farmer City, a daughter of Dumas and Nina Pointer Edwards. She married Donald E. Van Horn on Feb. 6, 1946, in Bloomington. He died July 5, 1999.
She is survived by three daughters, Audrey (Jose) Ramos, Sterling; Rebecca (Gary) Tucker, Oklahoma City; and Barbara J. Hale, Miami, Fla; a son, Ronald (Peggy) Van Horn, Carlock; a sister, Barbara Schorr, Reno, Nev: eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one expected in September; several nieces and nephew; and a dear friend, Barbara Edwards, Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers.
She was a member of Bloomington Chapter 50, Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Van Horn worked for the Eureka Co. in Bloomington for 20 years before retirement.
She dearly loved her children and grandchildren.
