Visitation at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 9 a.m. until religious service at noon Saturday, May 1, 2004, conducted by the Rev. Jack Nutter. Interment Roberts Cemetery, Hillsdale. Survived by a daughter, Joyce Annette "Joy" Davis, Amite; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Frances Anne McElveen Davis, Amite; three grandsons, Scott and wife DeDe Davis, Roseland, Brian Davis, Amite, and Steven Davis, St. Amant; four great-granddaughters, Harley Ann, Christine Marie, Kelsey Nicole and Briley Brooke Davis; a sister, Melba D. Smith, Greensburg; and a godchild, Judy Dupeppe, Amite. Preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Davis Sr.; parents, John and Emma Durnin; two sisters, Marguerite D. Silbernagel and Virgie Mae D. AMITE -- Bertha Durnin Davis, 90, died today, April 30, 2004, at her home.
She was a native of Amite, a homemaker and a member of St. Helena Catholic Church and the Amite Lions Club. She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Annette "Joy" Davis of Amite; one son, Tommy Davis of Amite; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Melba D. Smith of Greensburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Davis Sr.; her parents, John and Emma Durnin; two sisters, Marguerite D. Silbernagel, and Virgie Mae D. Courtney; and two brothers, Raymond E. Durnin and Norman O. Durnin.
Visitation will be Saturday at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite, from 9 a.m. until the the Rev. Jack Nutter conducts the funeral at noon. Burial will be at Roberts Cemetery, Hillsdale. McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, is in charge.
